We're PREGNANT!!!!!

Ok so if you're reading this...we've either told you that we're pregnant & just passed along this website or we sent this to you in an email to surprise you!

I've created this blog to keep EVERYONE updated on what going on with us & the baby! For those of you who are on my MySpace & Facebook...you will most likely see pics posted as I get them but I will also post them here along with typed updates so those of you who do not have any of the above mentioned can also share in the joy of seeing pictures & updates from me!

So...how far along are we? We at this present time (7-25-09) we are 13 wks 2 days. Conception was somewhere around Mother's day!! We've known we were pregnant around the beginning of June! Most of you should know (& understand) why it's taken us as long as it has for us to tell you! But for those of you who don't know, I'll give you a brief summary. Jeremy & I were pregnant this time last year...we were pretty much on the same schedule then as we are now (freaky hu?!??) Well at 20 wks we found out that the little girl we were having had Anencephaly (which is a form of spina bifida) which had a 0% survival rate due to the fact she had no brain! So we terminated the pregnancy (in October) & I've been taking 4 to 6 mg of Folic acid ever since!

So back to this pregnancy...well we did our first ultrasound at 9 wks (30 June) to determine EDD (Due Date) which is 29 January 2010. We decided to do a "First Trimester screening" A.K.A. Nuchal Translucency test they do this test between 12wks to 13 wks 6 days. What this does is it screens under ultrasound (by a trained sonographer who specializes in birth defects) to look for Spina Bifida, Anencephaly, Down Syndrome & Trisomy 18. They measure the nose, & different areas of the spine. They also do the normal stuff like looking at the heart & blood flow & whatnot! They also look at the brain & try to get a good look at the face. It was a 25 minute session with just the ultrasound & she says that from what she could see...that everything looks great so far...everything is where it should be & measures normal! Along with this they also do a blood test! They prick your finger & drop blood onto 5 circles onto this paper & send it to the lab. (I'm still awaiting the results on that!) We will do a Second Trimester screening at 18 wks to determine that everything is ok. Those results are 99.5% accurate. We're being hopeful!! The girl who did that ultrasound was also able to tell us the "POSSIBLE" sex of the baby which she says it could be a BOY!!! We won't know for sure until the 18wk ultrasound!!
